PLATFORMS - The pieces from series of works entitled “Platforms” are mixed media adventures. Layers upon layers of mixed media are fused together using acrylic polymer resins to become expressive works of art that are both visual and tactile. Infused with symbolism and emotion the paintings from this series constantly juxtapose the natural and the man made worlds. Natural elements such as sand or shells symbolize the organic being of humanity, layers of fabric or paper the complexity and fragility of life, and shattered compact disks our need to adapt to this wondrous age of technology. We as humans are a composite of sand and shells, fabric and cds, and if you look closely at these paintings you will make sense of the mixed media designs that are really mirrors to the lives we live.
